Privacy policy

This privacy policy describes how Susanna Gibson (“we,” “our” or “us”) collects, uses and shares information when you visit susannagibson.com (the “Site”). It applies only to this Site. MyOwn Image and MyOwn PAC publish their own privacy notices on their own websites.

Information we collect

Information you give us. If you use the contact form, we receive the details you enter: your name, email address, organization, the nature of your inquiry and your message. Please do not send intimate images, links to them or other sensitive personal details through the form.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, referring page and timestamps) to operate and secure the Site. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects aggregated, anonymized information about how the Site is used.

How we use information

• To respond to speaking, consulting, media and book inquiries.
• To operate, secure and improve the Site.
• To understand, in aggregate, which pages are read and how visitors arrive.
• To comply with the law and protect our rights and the rights of others.

We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising.

Cookies and analytics

The Site uses a small number of strictly necessary cookies, including the one that remembers your cookie choice. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) are set only after you accept them in the consent banner. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time using the “Cookies” link in the footer. Service providers

We rely on a few providers to run the Site, each bound by its own privacy terms: our hosting platform, Formspree (which receives contact form submissions and forwards them to us), Google reCAPTCHA (which protects the form from automated abuse and is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service) and Google Analytics (with your consent). Video on the Site is embedded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode and loads only when you choose to play it.

Sharing

We share information only with the service providers above, when required by law or legal process, to protect safety or our rights, or with your consent. We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you.

Retention

Contact form submissions are kept for as long as needed to respond and maintain a record of the correspondence. Server logs and analytics data are retained for the standard periods set by the respective providers.

Your choices and rights

You can browse the Site without accepting analytics cookies. You may ask us to access, correct or delete information you have sent us by writing to the address below. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act or the GDPR; we will honor valid requests.

Third-party links

The Site links to retailers, news outlets, support organizations and other third-party websites. We do not control their privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you are a young person affected by image-based abuse, the resources page lists services built for you, including Take It Down.

Changes

If our practices change, we will post the updated policy here with a new effective date.
