Resources
You are not alone. It is not your fault.
Whether this is happening to you or to someone you love, start here. These are the services Susanna trusts, in the order they tend to be needed.
Find support
If you are in danger, call 911. If you are in crisis, these lines answer right now.
The services below are independent organizations with trained staff. This page is general information, not legal, medical or crisis counseling.
Image-based abuse help
Removal, reporting and legal help.
Tools and helplines built specifically for nonconsensual intimate imagery, for adults and for anyone under 18.
First steps
The first steps, in order.
A longer version of this list, with platform-by-platform instructions and templates, is in The first 48 hours and in the book.
You are not to blame
Someone chose to violate your privacy. Nothing you did, wore, sent or trusted makes that your fault.
Document before you delete
Screenshot the content, the URL, the account and the date. Evidence disappears quickly and you will need it for platforms, police and lawyers.
Report and request removal
Every major platform has a non-consensual intimate imagery report path. Use StopNCII (adults) or Take It Down (minors) to block re-uploads.
Tell one person
Isolation is the abuser's ally. Choose one trusted person, or a helpline, and let them stand beside you.
Consider your legal options
Most U.S. states criminalize nonconsensual distribution, and federal law now requires platforms to remove it. You may also have civil claims.
Protect your mental health
The days after exposure can feel unsurvivable. They are not. Crisis lines exist for exactly this moment.
For journalists
Cover it accurately.
“Revenge porn” blames the victim and misnames the crime. The reporter’s guide covers language, framing, linking and consent: how coverage can protect or re-victimize.
